1. Open RealityScan and Import Images

  • Launch RealityScan.
  • Go to Inputs → select all photos → Open.
  • Example: 140 images taken with the LG V60 mobile.

2. AI Masking

  • Select all imported images.
  • Go to Workflow → Mask Images → AI Masking.
  • Wait 5–10 minutes.
  • This generates masks automatically around your object.
  • Optional: Press Tab on any image to review the mask.

3. Align Images

  • Go to Workflow → Align Images.
  • Wait a few minutes for images to align.
  • Review the point cloud to ensure correctness.

4. Quality Analysis (RealityScan 2.1 feature)

  • Sidebar → Quality Analysis → Calculate.
  • Colors indicate scan quality:
  • Green = best
  • Orange = more pictures needed.
  • Red = useless
  • Helps identify areas needing improvement.

5. Generate Mesh

  • Go to Calculate Model → Drop-down: choose Preview / Normal / High.
  • Normal = efficient for most users.
  • High = maximum quality, requires a strong PC.
  • Example: High-quality mesh from 140 images in ~30 minutes.

6. Review Mesh

  • Sidebar → Components → Model folder.
  • Check triangle count: Example: 45.2 million triangles (very high-poly).

7. Simplify Mesh (Low-poly version)

  • Top menu → Simplify.
  • Sidebar → Target Triangle Count (e.g., 1,000,000).
  • Enable Color Reprojection and Normal Reprojection → Automatic.
  • Click Simplify → generates a low-poly version with high-quality normal maps.
  • Optional: Further simplify to 10k triangles for demo purposes.

8. Viewing Options

  • Sidebar → View → Modes:
  • Sweet = textured view
  • Solid = mesh only
  • Vertices = point cloud

9. Apply Texture

  • Select Model 2 (1 million triangles).
  • Go to Workflow → Texture.
  • Wait a few minutes → ATK texture applied.
