How to Add Text, Glow Effects & Animation (Step-by-Step Guide)

Step 1: Open Your Project

  1. Open the CapCut app.
  2. Create a new project or open your existing one.
  3. Import your video into the timeline.
  4. Remove the watermark by tapping on it and selecting Delete.

Step 2: Add Text to Your Video

There are two ways to add text, but we will use the main method.

  1. Tap on the Text option.
  2. Select Add Text.
  3. Type your desired text (for example: Free VFX).
  4. Tap the check mark to confirm.

Your text will now appear on the video.

Step 3: Change Font Style

  1. Tap on the text layer in the timeline.
  2. Go to Font.
  3. Browse different font categories.
  4. Tap on any font to apply it instantly.

Choose the font that matches your video style.

Step 4: Adjust Text Size and Color

  1. Go to the Style section.
  2. Use the Size slider to increase or decrease text size.
  3. Select a color from the color panel.
  4. Choose a color that contrasts well with your background (for example, white on dark backgrounds).

Step 5: Add Stroke (Outline)

  1. In the Style section, find the Stroke option.
  2. Choose the outline color (for example, black).
  3. Adjust the stroke thickness using the slider.

This makes your text more visible.

Step 6: Add Glow Effect

  1. In the Style section, find the Glow option.
  2. Enable glow.
  3. Adjust its intensity using the slider.

Moving the slider right increases the glow.

Moving it left decreases the glow.

Step 7: Add Shadow

  1. Enable the Shadow option.
  2. Choose a shadow color.
  3. Adjust:
  4. Opacity
  5. Blur
  6. Distance
  7. Angle

Shadows add depth to your text.

Step 8: Use Curve and Spacing

  1. Tap on Curve to bend your text.
  2. Adjust the curve slider as needed.
  3. Use Spacing to add space between letters.
  4. Enable Bold or Italic if required.

Step 9: Apply Text Effects

  1. Go to the Effects section.
  2. Browse available templates.
  3. Tap on any effect to preview it.
  4. Choose the one that matches your video style.

You can download additional templates if needed.

Step 10: Add Text Animation

Tap on the text layer and go to Animation.

You will see three types:

  • In (animation at the beginning)
  • Out (animation at the end)
  • Loop (continuous animation during the video)

Add In Animation

  1. Select In.
  2. Choose an animation style (for example, fade, fire, electric, typing).
  3. Adjust the duration using the slider.
  4. Tap the check mark.

Add Out Animation

  1. Select Out.
  2. Choose the ending animation style.
  3. Adjust its speed.
  4. Confirm with the check mark.

Add Loop Animation

  1. Select Loop.
  2. Choose a moving or shaking effect.
  3. Adjust speed if needed.
  4. Confirm.

Loop animation keeps the text moving while it stays on screen.

Step 11: Adjust Text Duration

To make text stay longer:

Method 1:

  1. Tap on the text layer in the timeline.
  2. Drag its edge to extend its duration.

Method 2:

  1. Tap on the text layer.
  2. Select Lasting Text.
  3. It will automatically extend to the end of the video.

Final Result

After completing these steps:

  • Text is added properly.
  • Fonts and colors are customized.
  • Stroke, glow, and shadow are applied.
  • In, Out, and Loop animations are added.
  • Text duration is adjusted correctly.

Your video now includes beautifully styled and animated text.
