How to Add Text, Glow Effects & Animation (Step-by-Step Guide)
Step 1: Open Your Project
- Open the CapCut app.
- Create a new project or open your existing one.
- Import your video into the timeline.
- Remove the watermark by tapping on it and selecting Delete.
Step 2: Add Text to Your Video
There are two ways to add text, but we will use the main method.
- Tap on the Text option.
- Select Add Text.
- Type your desired text (for example: Free VFX).
- Tap the check mark to confirm.
Your text will now appear on the video.
Step 3: Change Font Style
- Tap on the text layer in the timeline.
- Go to Font.
- Browse different font categories.
- Tap on any font to apply it instantly.
Choose the font that matches your video style.
Step 4: Adjust Text Size and Color
- Go to the Style section.
- Use the Size slider to increase or decrease text size.
- Select a color from the color panel.
- Choose a color that contrasts well with your background (for example, white on dark backgrounds).
Step 5: Add Stroke (Outline)
- In the Style section, find the Stroke option.
- Choose the outline color (for example, black).
- Adjust the stroke thickness using the slider.
This makes your text more visible.
Step 6: Add Glow Effect
- In the Style section, find the Glow option.
- Enable glow.
- Adjust its intensity using the slider.
Moving the slider right increases the glow.
Moving it left decreases the glow.
Step 7: Add Shadow
- Enable the Shadow option.
- Choose a shadow color.
- Adjust:
- Opacity
- Blur
- Distance
- Angle
Shadows add depth to your text.
Step 8: Use Curve and Spacing
- Tap on Curve to bend your text.
- Adjust the curve slider as needed.
- Use Spacing to add space between letters.
- Enable Bold or Italic if required.
Step 9: Apply Text Effects
- Go to the Effects section.
- Browse available templates.
- Tap on any effect to preview it.
- Choose the one that matches your video style.
You can download additional templates if needed.
Step 10: Add Text Animation
Tap on the text layer and go to Animation.
You will see three types:
- In (animation at the beginning)
- Out (animation at the end)
- Loop (continuous animation during the video)
Add In Animation
- Select In.
- Choose an animation style (for example, fade, fire, electric, typing).
- Adjust the duration using the slider.
- Tap the check mark.
Add Out Animation
- Select Out.
- Choose the ending animation style.
- Adjust its speed.
- Confirm with the check mark.
Add Loop Animation
- Select Loop.
- Choose a moving or shaking effect.
- Adjust speed if needed.
- Confirm.
Loop animation keeps the text moving while it stays on screen.
Step 11: Adjust Text Duration
To make text stay longer:
Method 1:
- Tap on the text layer in the timeline.
- Drag its edge to extend its duration.
Method 2:
- Tap on the text layer.
- Select Lasting Text.
- It will automatically extend to the end of the video.
Final Result
After completing these steps:
- Text is added properly.
- Fonts and colors are customized.
- Stroke, glow, and shadow are applied.
- In, Out, and Loop animations are added.
- Text duration is adjusted correctly.
Your video now includes beautifully styled and animated text.
