Hello everyone, welcome to the class 8.

In today's class, we are going to learn how to remove the green screen in CapCut and how to remove the background from any video or image.

First, you need to import your green screen video and also import the video on which you want to apply this green screen effect.

For example, here we have a subscribe button, and we want the subscribe button animation to be applied in our video. But the problem is that its background is green, and we need to remove this background.

Before that, let's understand why a green background is used.

A green background is used so that we can easily remove it using the chroma key tool.

Step 1: Locate the Chroma Key Tool

  1. Tap on your green screen video.
  2. Go to the Tools panel, drag it to the right side, and you’ll find the option called Overlap.
  • On your timeline, there is the main track (the main video) and layers.
  • What Overlap does is convert the main track video into a layer.

Now our main video is on top, and the video we want to remove the background from is below it.

Step 2: Adjust Timeline

  1. Tap and hold the video to move it to the right.
  2. The subscribe button should start from here.
  3. Delete any extra parts by tapping, splitting, and removing the unnecessary portion.
  4. Bring it back to the beginning of the timeline.

Step 3: Remove the Green Background

  1. Tap on the layer.
  2. In the Tools panel, select Remove Background.
  3. You’ll see three options. For a green background, tap on Chroma.
  4. Use the Color Picker to drag onto the green background, and it will be removed.
  5. Tick it and carefully review your video.

Step 4: Refine the Green Screen Removal

If some green edges remain:

  1. Tap the layer again → Remove Background → Chroma.
  2. Adjust the Intensity slider (move forward to increase, backward to decrease).
  3. Recommended maximum: 4545
  4. Shadow: Low values are preferred to avoid unwanted shadows.
  5. Feather Edge: Increase slightly for smoother edges.
  6. Cleanup Edge: Set to Full for a completely clean removal.

Now your green background is removed completely.

Step 5: Apply to Images or Other Videos

For an image with a black background (e.g., Spider-Man):

  1. Convert the image/video to Overlap mode.
  2. Tap on the image/video → Remove Background → Auto Remove.
  3. Only the subject (Spider-Man) will remain.
  • Optionally, use Custom Remover → Brush to manually refine areas.
  • Auto Remove is usually the most effective method.

Step 6: Move Back to Main Track

If you want to bring the layer back to the main track:

  1. Tap on the layer → Tools panel → Main Track.
  2. The video will move back to the top/main timeline.
