Hello everyone, welcome to Class 9.
In today's class, we will learn how to use the CapCut Masking Tool.
Step 1: Import Videos
- Import the videos you want to work with.
- For example, we have a football video where a person falls from above to below.
- Remove any watermark by tapping on it and deleting it.
Step 2: Overlay the Video
- Select the second video that you want to appear in the center.
- Tap Overlay to convert it into a video layer.
- Hold and drag the layer to the left side of the timeline.
- The previous video is now behind this layer.
Step 3: Apply the Masking Tool
- Tap on the video layer → scroll to the end → select Mask.
- You’ll see many masking templates. For example, the Mirror template.
- Use the lock bar to adjust the mask:
- Move it up or down
- Rotate manually if needed
Step 4: Adjust the Mask
- To focus on a specific part of the video:
- Use the circle tool to select the area you want visible.
- There are two rows of tools:
- Arrow row: crop vertically
- Extend row: extend horizontally
- Use the Transform tool to smooth out the motion.
Step 5: Use the Tag Template (Optional)
- For automatic masking, use the Tag template.
- Options available:
- X-axis → move video horizontally
- Y-axis → move video vertically
- Size X/Y → extend vertically or horizontally
- Rotation → increase = clockwise, decrease = counterclockwise
- Adjust the feather of the layer to smooth edges.
- Round the corners if needed for a cleaner look.
Step 6: Review the Result
- Play the video to see the masking effect in action.
- Two videos can play together seamlessly, with the overlay video showing transparency as needed.
Closing Notes
- Masking has many uses, which will be explained in upcoming classes.
- Practice this tool regularly to improve your editing skills.
- Download CapCut from the link in the description, or, if you’re on CGHEVEN, find it in the sidebar.
Thanks for watching. Goodbye!
