1. Project & Domain Setup
- Open a new project.
- Keep existing notes; do not delete.
- Go to the Domain → expand → set resolution to 150 × 150 for manageability.
2. Emitter (Torus) Setup
- Import the torus into the Emitter Volume.
- In Visuals, enable Show Emitter to see the torus.
- Rotate (W → R) → 90° and position it above the base plane.
- Scale the torus as needed for your portal effect.
3. Simulation Settings
- Enter Simulation Mode → Forces → set Bions C to 0% to remove extra forces except noise.
- Add Multiple Forces:
- Tornado Force → rotate 90°, enable rotation.
- Twist → adjust for swirling effect.
- Force Line → adds backward force to guide smoke flow.
- Optionally expand Domain → 250 resolution for greater detail.
4. Smoke & Fire Settings
- Go to Emitter Volume → Emissions:
- Disable Show Emitter.
- Disable unnecessary fire if only smoke is needed.
- Optional fire: add 6% fuel for a subtle effect.
5. Additional Forces (Point Force)
- Add Force Point → move behind torus → adjust size to control attraction.
- Modify Twist Strength to enhance swirl.
- Fine-tune size and strength; animation is optional.
6. Visual Adjustments
- Skybox → Off
- Ground → Off
- Force Line → strength adjusted (e.g., 1.5)
- Noise → add or adjust amplitude for subtle smoke variation.
- Particles → enable detailed smoke effects.
7. Portal Animation
- Disable simulation.
- Select torus → animate Major Radius over timeline (e.g., 0 → 30 seconds) to create dynamic portal expansion.
- Start simulation → portal effect is fully animated and visible.
This workflow ensures:
- Controlled smoke & fire simulation
- Proper interaction with forces
- Clean portal animation ready for rendering
