Blender Fire Explosion Setup

1. Start a New Project

  1. Open Blender and create a new project.
  2. Delete all unnecessary nodes/objects so the scene is clean.

2. Import and Prepare the Character

  1. Import your character model.
  2. Select the character → press R to rotate → set rotation to 90°.
  3. Press G to move → adjust position using the gizmo.
  4. Place the character inside the simulation domain area.
  5. In the domain transform settings:
  6. Set X = 300
  7. Set Y = 100
  8. Set Z = 100
  9. Move the character slightly backward to match the animation timing.

3. Add the Explosion Emitters

Emitter 1 – Main Explosion

  1. Add Volume → Explosion.
  2. Add another Volume → Burst Emitter (optional helper emitter).
  3. Add a Cylinder and use it as the emitter shape:
  4. In Shape, select Cylinder.
  5. Enable Visual → Show Emitter.
  6. Adjust cylinder height to match your explosion scale.

4. Position and Configure the Emitter

  1. Move the emitter cylinder to the correct location under the character’s impact point.
  2. Reduce its size so the explosion scale stays consistent.
  3. Increase X-Axis Distribution to control directional burst.
  4. Set other distribution axes to 0.
  5. Set Axis Up to control upward force.

5. Configure the Burst Settings

  1. Open Burst Settings:
  2. Set Size smaller if needed.
  3. Set Burst Count to 12 (example from your text).
  4. Go to Explosion Settings:
  5. Set Replace to No Image.
  6. Change mode to 2 (the quick-expanding burst look).
  7. Reduce Additional Pressure to 10.

6. Configure the Secondary Burst (Optional)

  1. Open Burst Settings for the second burst emitter:
  2. Set Additional Pressure to 5.
  3. No other major changes needed.

7. Disable Smoke

  1. Select both emitters.
  2. Under Activity, disable:
  3. Smoke
  4. Image emission
  5. Keep Fire enabled only.

8. Increase Explosion Impact

  1. Go to Velocity Transfer and increase the value to 50.
  2. Open Forces:
  3. Enable Noise Force.
  4. Reset values to default (or slightly adjust if required).

9. Enable and Control the Burst Timing

  1. Go to Burst Activity.
  2. Enable Activity so the explosion triggers only when the character hits the ground.
  3. Adjust the activation frame to match the moment of impact in your character animation.

10. Final Fix – Remove Continuous Flames

  1. Select the Primitive Burst settings again.
  2. Disable its Web Activity (the part causing constant fire).
  3. The explosion now triggers only once, with no continuous flame loop.
