Polycam Setup
- Log in to Polycam
- Click Create → Photogrammetry.
- Free version: minimum 20 pictures, maximum 150 pictures
- Paid version: can upload 2000+ pictures for higher quality results
- Video uploads: 15 seconds to 3 minutes, max 16GB
- Select images from the file system (360° coverage recommended)
Photogrammetry Processing
- Naming the project (e.g., “Isolate Object”) to separate the object from the environment
- Choosing the Sequential mode if pictures were taken in order around the object
- Clicking Upload & Process (processing may take some time)
- Reviewing results: Polycam generates a high-quality 3D model with textures.
Export Settings
- Free version: export only GLTF format
- Paid version: additional formats and options available ($26/month)
- Optional: Remesh (not recommended in the free version due to quality loss)
- Texture quality can be improved with more and better images.
Importing into Blender
- File → Import → GLTF 2.0
- Model contains ~200,000 triangles
- Material view shows crisp, detailed textures.
- Comparison with the KIRI Engine model:
- Polycam textures are superior with the same source images.
- Side-by-side placement shows clearer details and better visual quality
