1. Scene Setup
- Open Blender and delete the default scene.
- Enable Screencast Keys (optional) to see actions on screen.
2. Add Base Circle
- Add → Mesh → Circle
- Set vertices as needed (32 is sufficient).
- Press E → Z to extrude upward.
- Press S → scale to shape the ring profile.
- Repeat E and G as needed to build the profile.
3. Inset and Offset Faces
- Select faces → press I to inset.
- For individual face offset: toggle options to inset each face separately.
- Adjust as necessary for curvature and detail.
4. Add Edge Loops
- Press Ctrl + R → add edge loops to control curvature and smoothing.
5. Visibility and Selection
- Enable X-Ray mode to select through the mesh.
- Delete any unnecessary geometry.
- Use G → Z to level irregular edges.
6. Mirror Modifier
- Apply Mirror Modifier → enable Clipping to merge center vertices.
- Ensures symmetrical modeling and prevents overlapping.
7. Subdivision Surface
- Add a Subdivision Surface Modifier to smooth the column.
- 1–2 levels depending on desired smoothness.
8. Spiral Detail
- Add Curve → Spiral (Archimedean).
- Enable Radius along the X-axis for shaping.
- Rotate and position as needed to fit the column.
9. Vertex Cleanup
- Select vertices → use Ctrl + click to select ranges in loops.
- Delete extra vertices to clean the mesh.
10. Convert to Mesh
- If using curves or procedural objects → convert to mesh:
- Object → Convert → Mesh from Curve/Meta/Surf/Text.
11. Solidify
- Add a Solidify Modifier to give uniform thickness to the column.
- Adjust thickness as needed for Gothic style.
12. Optional Mirroring
- Add another Mirror Modifier if duplicating the column elsewhere.
13. Final Adjustments
